Submitted by Steve Krug CURDites Rick Stamp and myself attended a poker run for the K2K charity in Woodstock, ON, on Oct 1st 06. These pics are of Walter Gretzky (Wayne's dad) going for his first ever motorcycle ride in my Patrol. I gave Walter one of Ken Beach's OVC shirts - he was thrilled! This guy has more energy than my whole family put together. He signed several autographs for all of Rick's and my family and for Ken as well. A good time was had by all. All Walter kept saying during his brief ride was; "So this is what it feels like to ride". He is truly a great man; every second of every day he is doing something for one charity or another. He has been known to go to the rink, find a rep team from out of town (the further the better) and invite the whole team (parents, siblings and all) to his house. He'll have them go into the basement and let the kids and everyone see and touch all of Wayne's awards and memorabilia, even letting the kids try on some of Wayne's jerseys from his NHL and International and Olympic career! It was truly an honour to let him sit in my chair. |
